Exceeded my expectations

I was looking for a grip to reduce the felt recoil of my Taurus model 85 lightweight 38 special, which was pretty uncomfortable to shoot. This extended rubber grip was a big improvement over the stock grips. It allowed me to use all 4 fingers when gripping ersus curling the little finger under the grip. It just felt better to hold and it certainly made it more pleasant to shoot the revolver. The laser was easy to adjust and greatly improves sighting a snub nose revolver, especially when trying to lock in on a target quickly. I highly recommend it.

A great compliment to this revolver

First, Optics Planet via Amazon had the best price for this product at the time of my purchase and the shipping was faster than expected.

It took just minutes to install the laser on the Taurus 905 and (this is not my first Crimson Trace laser) there was no adjustment needed when installed – this was pure luck of course. This model LG 385 has the on/off switch that may not be a necessary feature for some (I find it a convenient addition), but it also has the grip extension that many find necessary on snubbies.

Perhaps not as important as the laser itself, but it saves buying the extended Hogue grips, the extra grip length on this LG385 model of the Crimson Trace laser, extends the front of the grip about 3/4 inch for the pinky, the rear grip is only about 1/8 inch longer and in a fobus paddle for concealment the difference is not noticeable and of course in any belt pack (or purse type) carry it is insignificant. The width is a tad larger as well and is softer in recoil than the original Taurus grip.

Not only would I buy from Optics Planet again, I have – I purchased the same product for the new Taurus .327 magnum revolver and got a discount from my first purchase along with free shipping.

3 Stars? Mmm, How About 2-1/2 Stars Instead?

I do like the idea of this product, and it does work, but I have two complaints with these. First, the grip itself is just not substantial enough for my hand. It is a bit on the smallish side. Second, the grips activation button is in just the wrong place for my finger to activate easily. The button falls right into the crook, or inside, of my middle finger’s joint. Normal gripping won’t activate it for me. I have to squeeze that sucker with some real force to get the button to depress. The button isn’t hard to press, just in the exact wrong place for my finger. I am thinking of wrapping the grips up in black tape in order to build in some bulk, and get a better finger/button position.

As far as adjustment and laser dot brightness goes, these grips work well. The dot size and brightness are perfect for my aging eyes.

Bottom line, these grips are made for people with smaller hands than mine. Small to medium hands should feel right at home with this product. Larger, or even slightly larger than medium sized hands should probably pass.
