Di-Optic Aperture (DOA) Folding Rear Sight Advanced design, superior sighting and battle-ready toughness define Troy Industries’ Di-Optic Aperture (DOA) Folding Rear BattleSight. These sights provide lightning fast target acquisition and are fabricated to exceed military specs. The optically engineered apertures center your eyes instantaneously and effortlessly providing a clearer target picture than with round apertures. The sights feature two settings, one for up to 300 meters and a second for up to 500 meters. This skillfulness makes the DOA idealisti for military, law enforcement and home defense applications. These progressed sights have been broad field-tested and, like all Troy Industries products, are Battle Ready. Note: Sight is designed to work on same plane rail systems only. Will not work with a railed gas block that is higher or lower than the receiver. 5Excellent Back-Ups (and the Review is for the PRODUCT, not a specific VENDOR, which changes)
By M. MacBradaigh
I have nothing against Midwest Industries or Yankee Hill Machine, they both make solid Back Up Iron Sights (BUIS). But Troy in my opinion is the Gold Standard.

When I first started looking at BUIS, I thought “Man, they are expensive”. There’s a good reason. Have you ever looked at two options, bought the cheaper one, and then later bought the more expensive one anyway because the cheaper one wasn’t worth it in the first place? That’s what spending cheaply on cheap BUIS is like. Do yourself a favor and spend good money for good BUIS.

Back-Ups are there if your Primary (red-dot for instance) fails. If you need them at all (and granted the majority of the time, you will probably leave them folded) it is not a time for risking failure in the Back-Ups.

The reviews for lesser cost/quality BUIS’s said they don’t stay in place sometimes. What? They don’t stay up? See above about ‘Back-Up failure’… Not a problem with Troy Industries. They lock in place. You have to push with a good amount of pressure – more than could be reasonably applied by ‘accident’ to get the lock to release so they can be folded back down.

The material is well made. Nothing in the construction is cheap. Which is another great reason to select Troy.

I have an EOTech 516 on my rifle that I use these Troy BUIS with. I like the windage adjustment in the Rear sight that has a lower profile than many other flip-up rear sights. That may be a preference. You want them in pairs from the same manufacturer, and YHM was sold out everywhere, so my choice was that much easier. Also of advantage on Troy Rear sight: The Diamond shape to the sight peep makes target acquisition easier than round shapes.

Another plus: a 0-300 meter aperture and a 300-550 meter aperture.

The only thing that could make these better (and Troy does make them), is to get them with tritium night sights for low light shooting.

I highly recommend these!

RANT: Reviews should be for the PRODUCT, not the VENDOR. The Vendor changes all the time on Amazon. When I bought these, there were at least 7 vendors. I don’t care how great (or not) your shipping speed was – I want to know about the product.

ANOTHER RANT: I don’t care if something “looks cool” on a gun at the range. I can see if it looks cool. I want to know how it functions. Leave the “looks cool” junk for your beer buddies.

2Not impressed at all, stay with ROUND rear sight aperature
By John
I was pretty intrigued and thought I did my homework, but these do not work FOR ME. I have (what I would like to consider) an extensive Mil shooting background; beyond the BS that the Maine Corps requires and came up on tubes, ACOGs and irons throughout many shooting packages between ’98-’10. Let me stress again, FOR ME, the large diamond aperture is not a comfortable design to get used to. In short, I have these mounted on a POF SBR, there is too much room for play and obtaining a good and comfortably-fast sight picture takes some time to get used to. The smaller 300-600 aperture is easier to employ from 100-200 (the max I was able to last use them extensively). Maybe I’m just far too used to a standard round rear sight aperture but here is my advice before you commit to the purchase: DO NOT BUY BEFORE LOOKING THROUGH THESE WHILE MOUNTED. If you are dead set on buying these GET A HOLD OF ME AND I’LL SELL YOU MINE. I’m going back to a ROUND Rear Sight Aperture. Good luck with your choice.

2Not impressed
By G. Avalos
I thought this was going to be an awesome back up sight. I found the large sight unusable or too big to take use of the diamond and the small sight washed out. For me it was a waste of money.
